This is a quick little pick-me-up about marketing and how to do it.

The ama.org (American Marketing Association) defines marketing as:

“Marketing is the activity, set of institutions, and processes for creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners, and society at large.”

To me, a key concept of this definition is the idea of exchanging offers that have value for customers. This is a key aspect of online marketing, you need to be offering something that the customer thinks he or she needs. Plus it is vital that you make contact with her or him the exact instant that she or he is in need of such an exchange.

And as Wikipedia says:

“Because marketing is used to attract customers, it is one of the primary components of business management and commerce.”

In other words marketing is a very important part of the process of being a small business owner or someone embarked on an entrepreneurial venture. Which are you?

What does marketing require?

Marketing requires strategy and fortitude, the strategy based on the unique situation that the marketing you are doing needs to meet the requirements of the industry and demographic. You need to know your audience and who you are dealing with in order to get results. And in the end, “results” is the Holy Grail of marketing.
