This is one of my favorite quotes:
“The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.” -Walt Disney
We of course also have had big corporations use phrases like “Just do it” which is somewhat in the same realm of what Mr. Disney is suggesting.
Even “Doers” Suffer From “Analysis Paralysis
But what can we learn from this? Is there a project that you want to do but don’t do it for some reason or another? Sometimes we think that we’re “Doers,” but even being someone who is generally proactive, chances are there is an area of interest on your part that you are not pursuing.
Fear of Success
How do you get started? All I can do is relate my own story. I do a lot on the web, but sometimes I wonder what I am doing and why I am putting so much time into it? The reality is that this is not a money motivated undertaking for me. It is more of a creative expression thing. But given this, there are still aspects of setting up the new business that I procrastinate about. I too suffer from the fear of success to take things to the next level and am much better at helping other people succeed than doing it myself. Don’t get me wrong, I do a lot of stuff, especially as it relates to blogging content, but there are steps I could easily take that I don’t.
What to Do about Fear?
Some people say that this kind of fear stems from the lack of comfortability that entering uncharted territory brings on. I’m sure many of you have heard the saying that is something along the lines of “Feel the fear and do it anyway.”
The Walt Takeaway
In the end Walt Disney’s quote about stopping talking and just doing, can be inspirational. And he not only created amazing things while he was alive but the growth of his dream has continued after his death.
